Kinetic Sand - I think that it is one of those textural products [like slime or Silly Putty or even playdough] which people seem to either love to play with.... or just absolutely CANNOT STAND, lol.
My first experience with the product was when I was wanting a personal sandbox and [without understanding what the product really was] decided to purchase a 'sandbox set' which included natural-colored Kinetic sand with play tools in a cardboard box. I didn't like it. It had an 'off' smell to me, and the sand didn't act like damp beach sand. But then [years later] I began to see Instagram posts [videos] of people slicing thru colored sand and the sound of it was just so AMAZING that I decided to research the product. What I learned from reviews is that more than a few people have not liked the smell of the 'natural' sand by Kinetic Sand, nor have they liked the coarser and larger grain size of the specific product.
So I decided to try Kinetic sand once again.
It began with a 2-pack with 4 colors each [total 10 oz.]: pink, purple, blue, and green. Being 'how I am' I decided to separate the 4 colors [as best as I could] and then combine the purple and pink, and the blue and green to then store each pair of colors into the 2 separate containers. It was fun playing with it... until I wanted a larger amount to play with. I also knew that I'd like some tools for sculpting and ended up purchasing the kit which contained a pound each of blue and red sand [which I blended into purple], plus a separate 2 pound bag of blue sand [technically a different shade of blue]... which I then blended all together [along with the 2 containers of previously paired colors which by then had been blended together into a soft grey] to form a sort of Periwinkle Blue color.
Why not different colors?
I guess it is part of me wanting things more simpler now; or perhaps it is me not wanting to get overstimulated visually. I am becoming more aware of my environment and how it can create a sensory overload - especially visually - which can be somewhat annoying in that I am artistic in ways [painting, sewing] which are very visual in their very essence of creativity. But that's ok. I am learning how to respect who I am and how I am 'put together', which includes listening to my body and being aware when I need some 'down' time or a break. Overstimulation is an energy drain so I have to stay aware of how my body is responding to my environment. Sometimes simplification in one area can counter-balance the stimulation in another one.
This is the beauty of living authentically and true to yourself.
Enjoy your day. Life is beautiful.
