A Me Day Friend

A part of self care means [for me] occasionally taking time off to go be near people without necessarily interacting with them; I call this my Peopling Time and is a way in which I honor the Extraverted aspect of my Introverted personality. Yesterday was such a day for me and included - besides getting a 'purchase points' latte - going over to Petsmart to check out the various animals there [mostly the cats, but occasionally birds or rodents].

Ladies and Gentlemen: meet Truffle!
This cutie was listed as a Short-haired Syrian Hamster [2 year lifespan] and was so curious towards me, even coming across her enclosure to interact with me. As you can see by the pictures, she is also an IMP and attempted to climb out of the back of her display cage, lol.

Yes, I was tempted.
And no, I did not purchase her and all of the other things which would be needed to give her a healthy and happy little life. She wasn't right for me... but she will be for someone else.

That's the beauty of Me Days; and the little discoveries and sweet moments of joy which can occur during them.
It was not wasted time.
It was not wasted gas.
It was not wasted money.
I WAS moments to slow down, look at 'pretties', enjoy the smell and taste of fall flavors [it IS - after all - Pumpkin Spice season, lol], and to remember the childlike joys of going out somewhere just for the sake of DISCOVERING the adventures which a day could bring.
It is learning how to LIVE again!

Remember - Self Care is not wasted time or money.
And you know, sometimes it is necessary in order to live a balanced life.

Go have a great day!
Rachel

Accepting My Neurodiversity

Neurodiversity - being Neurodivergent A life of being atypical... different from mainstream society. I am still in the Discovery phase. -- Should I even be writing about it? For me, this looks like: * HSP: Highly Sensitive Person (common name) or Sensory Processing Sensitivity (medical name, and different from Sensory Processing Disorder, which is an emotional regulation disorder). You can look into the work of Dr. Elaine Aron (and others) for specifics regarding this Genetic Condition (like eye color) which is found in 15-20% of humans (plus more than 100 species of animals). HSP relates to how the brain processes information and can sometimes be misdiagnosed as BPD, ADHD, and/or other Spectrum disorders. * ADHD (mild): undiagnosed professionally yet strongly suspected. Looking at female symptoms/criteria, the indicators are there. * CPTSD: undiagnosed professionally (as a whole), yet I HAVE been professionally diagnosed with Anxiety and Depression (both...

An Introduction to My Pure Imagination Life

Welcome to my little world. This blog is just another step in this crazy journey which has been my life. It is the result of me deciding to begin living life NOW instead of waiting for [this] or [that] to happen first. It is my rainbow following tears. It is joy after sadness. It is the strength which I am discovering about myself. This is me allowing the artistic creative person who I am to be set FREE in expressing herself. It is me... well... me basically saying "screw it" to confining boxes and role-playing and being influenced by comments regarding the 'appropriateness' [or not] of anything relating to my life and how I am choosing to live it (past, present, and future). Welcome to my life. Take a walk with me while I paint and sew and create 'stuff' for the sheer joy of adding Beauty to my world. Watch me take chances and 'wing-it' in unfamiliar territories, lol. And allow me the opportunity to be honest about who I am and what I need and how I a...

Kinetic Sand: mixing the perfect color

Kinetic Sand - I think that it is one of those textural products [like slime or Silly Putty or even playdough] which people seem to either love to play with.... or just absolutely CANNOT STAND, lol. My first experience with the product was when I was wanting a personal sandbox and [without understanding what the product really was] decided to purchase a 'sandbox set' which included natural-colored Kinetic sand with play tools in a cardboard box. I didn't like it. It had an 'off' smell to me, and the sand didn't act like damp beach sand. But then [years later] I began to see Instagram posts [videos] of people slicing thru colored sand and the sound of it was just so AMAZING that I decided to research the product. What I learned from reviews is that more than a few people have not liked the smell of the 'natural' sand by Kinetic Sand, nor have they liked the coarser and larger grain size of the specific product. So I decided to try Kinetic sand once agai...
