So today is not a fluffy post: it's just something which came to mind.
For context, I am rearranging my bedroom/home office/sewing room. Trust me, it's just TIME to try a new perspective in how it is all laid out. PART of doing this includes reassessing everything which is in this room: what to keep, what to store elsewhere for now, and what to part with. I have also given myself the daunting task of going thru my [still rather extensive] fabric stash, and this is where the whole Could vs. Want idea comes into play.
I COULD keep this herringbone flannel fabric to use to make wintery PJ - vs. - I WANT to keep this herringbone flannel fabric...
The same goes for EACH piece of fabric.
I am not allowing myself to think about how much money it [specific fabric section] cost. And I am CERTAINLY not berating myself for having - at some time in the past - bought it; it spoke to me in the moment, and I at least felt THEN that I would use it. People change, and their interests and likes change, and it is totally ok for that to happen.
Thought progression...
I COULD mow my yard tomorrow vs. do I WANT to mow it [or wait until the next day which could be ten degrees cooler.... yep, I'm gonna wait],
I COULD go do ____ vs. do I really WANT to go do ___,
... and the process continues over and over again.
Note: you can also say COULD versus WOULD [do ___]; and this is Would period, not Would if ____ [which then turns it into a Could as it qualifies the event], decisiveness is key here.
It is especially useful to me as I am trying to move towards a more Minimalistic existence [and with me being very creative and able to find 'usefulness' in just about anything it can be counterproductive to this process] so applying the Could vs. Want formula is helping me, ESPECIALLY since I can get visually overstimulated quite easily [yes, I am a creative person who gets overstimulated visually - so I have to keep supplies out of sight yet accessible].
So, I guess we'll see how this goes...
Life is a beautiful adventure, and you never know what you may learn, lol.

P.S.
As for the picture: it is a random picture of a pecan tree budding out in early spring 2000 and has absolutely NOTHING to do with this post, lol. But I didn't want to have a post without a picture, so here it is.
