Reflections: Could versus Want

So today is not a fluffy post: it's just something which came to mind. For context, I am rearranging my bedroom/home office/sewing room. Trust me, it's just TIME to try a new perspective in how it is all laid out. PART of doing this includes reassessing everything which is in this room: what to keep, what to store elsewhere for now, and what to part with. I have also given myself the daunting task of going thru my [still rather extensive] fabric stash, and this is where the whole Could vs. Want idea comes into play. I COULD keep this herringbone flannel fabric to use to make wintery PJ - vs. - I WANT to keep this herringbone flannel fabric...  The same goes for EACH piece of fabric. I am not allowing myself to think about how much money it [specific fabric section] cost. And I am CERTAINLY not berating myself for having - at some time in the past - bought it; it spoke to me in the moment, and I at least felt THEN that I would use it. People change, and their interests and likes...

Candy Girl

[August 25th] "Mom, you are such a Candy Girl." - words spoken to me by my daughter recently while we were out running errands.  We were at the end of a long day of errands [one of those days where you are so tired that you go pick up fast food for dinner] and I had parked in a space so we could eat a little food before deciding if we wanted to make any more stops, or just go on home. It was while parked that I saw THAT STORE [Party City] and perked up, which led to my daughter making the afore mentioned comment. But it's true - I like candy. I like candy so much that I requested a cotton candy machine for my 50th birthday. I like happy things. I like chocolate donuts with multicolored sprinkles on them. I like ice cream, and purple icing to spread onto squares of cake. I like to pin cute and creative food presentation ideas [many involving sweets]. And I have a sealed container in my bedroom where I keep a personal stash of goodies. Yes, I am aware of dental risks and he...

A Me Day Friend

A part of self care means [for me] occasionally taking time off to go be near  people without necessarily interacting with  them; I call this my Peopling Time and is a way in which I honor the Extraverted aspect of my Introverted personality. Yesterday was such a day for me and included - besides getting a 'purchase points' latte - going over to Petsmart to check out the various animals there [mostly the cats, but occasionally birds or rodents]. Ladies and Gentlemen: meet Truffle! This cutie was listed as a Short-haired Syrian Hamster [2 year lifespan] and was so curious towards me, even coming across her enclosure to interact with me. As you can see by the pictures, she is also an IMP and attempted to climb out of the back of her display cage, lol. Yes, I was tempted. And no, I did not purchase her and all of the other  things which would be needed to give her a healthy and happy little life.  She wasn't right  for me... but she will be for someone else....
